Dry-Out & Heat-Up Services
Controlled curing and heat-up procedures to maximize refractory lining performance and prevent premature failure.
After refractory installation, proper dry-out is critical. Newly installed castable and brick linings contain residual moisture that must be removed gradually through a controlled heat-up schedule. Rapid heating causes steam pressure buildup inside the lining, leading to spalling, cracking, and catastrophic failure.
M.S. Enterprises provides professional dry-out services using calibrated burners, thermocouples, and temperature recorders. Each dry-out follows a specific time-temperature curve designed for the refractory material and equipment geometry.
Dry-Out Process
- Pre-dry-out inspection of installed refractory
- Thermocouple placement at critical locations
- Burner setup and fuel arrangement
- Controlled heating as per manufacturer's dry-out curve
- Hold periods at specified temperatures for moisture release
- Continuous temperature monitoring and logging
- Post-dry-out inspection and report generation
Applications
- Boiler refractory dry-out (CFBC, AFBC, stoker)
- Kiln lining heat-up (cement, lime, sponge iron)
- Furnace and ladle dry-out (steel industry)
- Incinerator and duct lining curing
Why Proper Dry-Out Matters
A rushed or improperly executed dry-out is one of the most common causes of early refractory failure. The cost of a proper dry-out is a fraction of the cost of relining. M.S. Enterprises ensures every installation reaches its designed service life by following precise curing protocols with full documentation.
